The Site :
- When will there be a new update on the site?
Please : never ask that! Because I don't know myself when I'll do an update. I work on the site on my free time. Although, I often update the site regularly, so even if I have not written the news, the site may have been updated since your last visit.
- Can I be moderator please?
Sorry, but I don't accept requests. If I want new mods on the site, I'll clearly mention it, otherwise it means that I don't need more mods; so don't ask.
- How can I register on the forums? How do I use a forum?
Check this page : http://www.phpbb.com/support/tutorials/ , and scroll down to the "End user section". There are good tutorials that will explain you step by step how to use and register on a forum.
- How can I talk on the shout boxes?
You must connect on the site (create an account if you don't have one, it's free), then enter your message and click "Hoowwl".
- Is it an official site?
No! This is a fan site. It has no right on the Balto films; Balto is the property of Universal Pictures.
- Is the site free?
Of course! There's absolutely no section on the site that is money restricted ;)
- I have an idea to improve the site. Can I send it?
Yes of course! Any new idea is welcomed ;) Although I can not assure you that it will be done.
- I want to participate. What can I do on the site?
You can send Articles, Fan arts (drawings), Fan fics (stories), Fan videos (clips) here. If you want to send any other thing, send it by email. And of course, you can also leave comments nearly everywhere on the site, and obviously talk on the shout boxes and the forums.
- Where are the rules of the site?
Basically, the rules for the site are the same as the ones on the forums. So check the forums rules There are also specific rules for the galleries of fan arts. And the shout boxes include some rules that you can display by clicking on the link "Display the shout box rules" at the bottom.
- I want to contact the webmaster. How can I do that?
Simple : send me an email (here.), or a Private Message if you're registered on the forums. I'm also often on the shout boxes. I don't use messengers.
- Someone is acting badly on the shout boxes; what can I do?
First, talk to that person. Most problems can be resolved that way. If it doesn't work, please ask the mods on the shout boxes first. Then (and only then), if there's no mod at the time, you can send me an email to report it to me. But don't forget to copy/paste what this bad person has said, I won't ban anyone if I don't have a proof.
- I have spotted a grammatical / spelling error on the site. Can it be corrected?
I'm french, so my native language is not english. So there are probably many mistakes on the site; of course I can correct them, if you tell me where it is.
The Fan arts :
- How can I send fanarts on the site?
Check this topic on the forums : help to send fan arts on the site. Please do not send them directly by email, use the automatic send system instead to save me time...
- I've sent fan arts, but they still don't appear on the site?!
This is normal. The fanarts (and the fanfics, articles etc...) only appear after having been checked by either me or GOL, in order that some people don't send impropriate pictures. You have to wait till the next update for them to appear, if they are accepted of course.
- I try to send drawings in my gallery but it doesn't work!
You're probably trying to send pictures that have a too big resolution. (it must be less than 2000 * 2000 pixels) Or it may also be because you're sending a non-supported picture format. (only JPG and GIF are accepted, no BMP!) Check this topic for help on reducing the resolution and converting pictures to JPG : help to send fan arts on the site
- My gallery is blocked!
Send me an email with your pseudo; you probably sent a picture with a too big resolution, as I said in the previous question.
- Which drawings can I send?
This is a Balto site, so only the type of characters that appear in the Balto films are allowed. This includes original characters such as wolves, dogs, foxes...But not horses or demons. For more info, check specific rules for the galleries of fan arts.
- I noticed that some other artists have a link to an external gallery or/and the message "this artist does not take request". I would like to add that in my gallery, how can I do that?
Go to the page to send fanarts, and click on "Manage my gallery" to access many options, including this one, deleting pictures...
Balto :
- Where can I buy the Balto dvds?
They can be found in local supermarkets, but it's sometimes difficult. The easiest way is still to order them from the web. For this reason, Balto Source has a partnership with the site Amazon.com : Go to this page to see the Balto items in sale. . If you want to order on another site, here is a list of online stores which sell the films : click on this link, enter "Balto" as a search, and click on "Go". Then click on "check prices" next to the Balto film you want to buy. As I'm not american, I can't suggest you any stores, sorry...Although, you may be interested to buy the 16/9e version of Balto instead of the poor 4/3 american dvd; if this is the case, check this article on the Balto brazilian dvd.
- I'm desperately trying to find Balto merchandise, but I can't find any!
I know, this is normal. There are no Balto merchandise in sales since the release of the original film. (1995/1996), so even the most common things such as plushies and the soundtrack are very difficult to find now. The best (and only) way to find some, is on online sites : Ebay and Amazon. Blame Universal for that. Read this...
- Is Aniu and the white wolf the same character?
That's a very recurrent topic on the Balto sites. No one can answer precisely. For more info, check the articles on the site, and the topics on the forums. If you want my opinion, the Wolf Quest team being entirely different from the original one, they wanted to make Aniu as the white wolf. Although the team from the original Balto had probably a totally different conception of the white wolf...
- Has there been any Balto video game released? Has there been a Balto TV series? Is there anything Balto except the films and the merchandise?
No, there isn't. The only thing Universal did to exploit this license, are the two DTV sequels. Universal isn't Disney at all...Read this...
- Will there be a Balto 4?
Glenn Ross, président of Universal Studios Home Entertainment Family Productions, answered to our peition which aim was to get Balto more popular. He said that "not enough people bought the last film to make attractive the production of a new one". That wasn't the aim of the petition, but here's a very clear answer...Unfortunately...
