What do we know so far about his past and parents?

Sure, you know that Balto (in the movie, not real-life) was half-wolf, half-husky. So what else? Who were his parents? What was life like for him before he became Nome's greatest hero?

From what has been revealed so far in the Balto trilogy, fans know very little about him. In the first movie, it is revealed that Balto's mother was the one that gave him his wolf genes (first mentioned in the Alley scene by Steele in the beginning of the film), meaning that his father must have been a husky.

Steele: 'I've got a message for your mother. Awooooo!'

This makes us realize that pretty much the majority of Nome knew about Balto being half-wolf, especially the ways that he was being treated by many of the townspeople through much of the first part of the film. How did they know this? How did they know his name was Balto? Perhaps the people named him or something? Who knows.

Balto 2: Wolf Quest confirmed the already obvious thought of his parent's pedigrees when Aleu asked him how he was born as 'part-wolf'.

Balto: 'I'm the one who's part wolf.'
Aleu: 'How could this happen?'
Balto: 'Look, Aleu. My dad was a husky who had pups with a wolf.'

He also reveals more information that helps us Balto fans imagine what his mother looked like, in quite an ironic way. Balto also mentioned a bit about his 'foster father', Boris.

Balto: 'I was accidentally seperated from her when I was young, so I never spent much time with...the wolf. But I remember that she was as white as snow, and she had this warm voice that made me feel safe. Then Boris took me in, and after being raised by a goose, it's a wonder I don't honk instead of bark.'

The conclusion of Wolf Quest also revealed the identity of his mother, the 'White Wolf' Aniu, who was guiding both him and her own granddaughter to a new adventure of their heritage.

An questionable point could also be made from Wolf Quest. Nava, the wise wolf shaman of the wolf pack, is a very mysterious creature, since he meets with Aniu through his dreams (just like Balto) and also calls Balto 'my brother' when they go their separate ways. Could Nava be related to Balto by blood? It is possible, but it is not proven. He seems too old to be Balto's 'litter' brother, but he could be an older step-brother (from a different male); these are just guesses so it could be possible. Most likely they know each other because Aniu told him about Balto and most likely made Aniu lead him to the pack, as mentioned in this line: 'It was I who sent for you.'

In the third film, Wings of Change, Balto mentions to Stella about a few things about Boris, with a very questionable thought included.

Balto: I’ve known Boris since I was a pup. Well, he maybe a pain in the butt, but he’s…well, he’s the dad I never had.

Did Balto ever really know his father? I guess he must have known that he was a husky and all, but probably forgot all of his memories of him. His father's name is unknown, and is most likely dead or in another location not mentioned in any of the films yet. Hopefully, future movies in the Balto series will add more information to Balto's past and his parents. Only time will tell.

Naba probably isnt related to Balto because "My Brother" is a very common term for a friend and also when Naba is talking to the wolf pack he says "My Brothers and Sisters!" and they can't all be realted to him, not trying to put you down or anything. And i think we should call him Kitok if Universal dont give him a name!

Actually, I have been wondering as well about how the townspeople knew his name was Balto. I bet they named him but still it makes no sence. Also, I think Nava is not related to Balto I just think he called him "my brother" because wolves live together and are very close in family. I do want to see Balto's father though it would be very nice for Balto to get re-united with his father. I do think that Balto knew his father he was just too young to remember now. Like, you can't really remember what you did when you were a little kid it is very hard. I think Balto has A LOT of past we still have to figure out about. But remember sometimes some secrets are there to be left alone.

Hmmm...That is one pickle of a mystery. First things first: Balto is part-wolf, part-dog (his mother: a wolf, and his father: a husky or some kinda sled dog). I wouldn't doubt that Nava and Balto would be related (wolves have been known to do that if you know what I'm saying...;)) Also, there's one thing that's bugging me: since Boris took Balto in as his own, do you think Aniu (Balto's mother) would watch over him in a cosmic weird spirit like Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars? (I can't help comparing other movies to that trilogy; I'm an uber fan of both Balto & Star Wars!) Another comparison to Star Wars, Anakin Skywalker (Darth Vader) and Aleu are Chosen Ones. Anakin is the Chosen One and Aleu is the One who is Wolf, but Does Not Know. Kind of a pun, huh?lol Who knows? Maybe we will see more secrets in Balto 4; I wanna see a prequel scene with Boris and a young Balto or a happy reunion between brother and sister with Aleu and Kodi! I just hope Balto and Jenna won't look like drug addicts in the fourth film, and go back looking like they did in the first film.

Maybe Kassan had a husky named Talkeetna or something and when he was out he found Aniu.Then Aniu and Talkeetna had pups.Then when Balto was young Boris would play with him.When Kassan left for a while,Seppala took Balto and left him at that boat.Maybe Nava was an uncle to Aniu and a great uncle to Balto.

i think balto puppyhood is this he's father was a husky dog he's mother a white wolf they fell in love and had puppies 6 of them i think 5 huskies one wolf then balto dad died ran away don't know then when all the baby puppies grew up into toddlers you know what i mean aniu balto mother wanted them to have home's loads of children adopt five except poor balto the wolf. then aniu ran away and left poor balto alone by himself then boris the goose found balto in the box and decided to adopt him become he's adpted father because balto didn't know his dad he lived happy with boris when he grew up and when he went on the mission and the white wolf found him balto didn't know it was his mum because of so long but in balto 2 at the end when aniu said son balto couldn't belive that his mom was the white wolf that he met in the first film:)

I'm writing a fanfic about this. I thought it would be cool to cross "The Call of the Wild" by jack london w/ balto. Aniu and buck meet and have pups .But when hunters attack aniu is dead leaving, Buck completely heartbroken and the all the pups are missing except for Balto and his brother Maeto. Fast forwarding to when Buck can't care for his sons any more he leaves them with boris. May seem dumb I kno. I'm also continuing on the story about how Balto meets jenna and steele and later how he meets his long lost littermates.
