There have been many changed in the design of Balto. I've seen him drawn at least with 4 different designs. And the same for other characters such as Steele. |

Yes, well this is common in most animated films. Many characters go thought changes...for instance, Mickey Mouse. Look how he's changed over the years!:o |

The reason for him not really looking like his reall design is because the first picture is a storyboard. The storyboards are quick sketches of teh characters, in the storyline, all put together like a rough animation, but for the entire story showing what goes on each time there is a "Camera move," etc. Also, in storyboards, the characters are rough and very quick sketches, so the characters only have to resemble themselves in colorationa nd markings, not really shape... they aren't going to spem the first three years on the stryboarding to get it all perfect and right. The one on the right is a design or sketch of Balto, so it would actually look like him, it may have been used in teh film. The first is in storyboard, so it doesn't have to look like him, only in the sense of markings. |

that star-like balto looks so cute hihi lol but not really like a wolf r wolfdog. it can be drawn from the animator of Star. It's better that they changed that Balto design more wolfish. |

The designers just test out different designs, un till they find one that fits. |

I like the second drawing better. The first one is too cute and dog-like. The second one is more wolf-like. |

Most of the time, acutally, animators for storyboards just draw a really quick scetch of the charactor. Just to give the other people a basis on whats happening. Then when the movie is made, a more complex drawing is made. |
i think the first ones star
and i think the animators copied Bambi from Bambi 2s style but in a doggish way! OMG! |
Well Im thinking, they dont spend to long on the storyboard so of course it looks different |
wow he DOSE look like Star!! |
