Proof that Steele can't be a Malamute

I think Steele is NOT a Malamute. I read a dog book and there was a Malamute in it.
Body: Powerful, well developed, deep chest, straight back sloping gently to hips.(Sounds like Steele huh?)Very muscular loins. Can only have brown eyes.

I found Hukies too
Body:Strong deep chest, ribs well sprung, strong level back. Shouders powerful and well laid back. Lean muscular loin.
Can have brown, blue, or bicolored eyes.

We say Steele is a Malamute, but they can't have blue eyes like Steele does. And he is bigger and more powerul than Balto.So he can't be a Husky either. What is he? Could he be both? Or is he another breed?

I think he could be a mix of the two. Or maybe a really strong-built husky. We'll never know for sure. I think that he IS a malamute when it comes to his size, and that they just gave him blue eyes to give him a more sinister look, you know? But if you wanna go into realism, yeah, he's most likely a mix of the two.

Is very difficult to say...:/: he looks like a Malamute... but he's thin like an husky! I'm very agree with Catwhohas14tails! Because he could be half husky and half Malamute. Malamute are very great at pulling heavy sleds (so are slow) and huskies are more better to run very fast, without heavy on sled. And Steel is a running dog. Maybe he's a mix. I think he's a malamute. He has the build, but with the eyes...could you do some more research on it so you have proof from more than one book? If only that one book says malamutes can't have blue eyes, I'm not convinced. And why couldn't they have blue eyes, anyway? Thinking about it, there doesn't seem to be any reason.

I have also read that Malamutes have to have brown eyes, but that is just for show dogs. (check the AKC website if you still don't believe this. www.akc.org/breeds/alaskan_malamute/index.cfm) If Steele were to enter a dog show, he would be disqualified because of his eyes, but that doesn't keep him from being a Malamute as a sled dog. He has the build and physique of a Malamute, but his eyes simply mean that somewhere along his bloodline there's a husky involved. (maybe his great-great-great-great-great grandfather? or something like that.) redwolf03 --> apparently, the reason for the rule is because the blue eyes is a gene only present in huskies. by having brown eyes as a breed standard they make sure that the dog is 100% pure malamute, with no husky mixed in. They just want to preserve the *completely* pure-bred dog.

i think Steele is mix from alaskan malamute and siberian husky like Balto is half wolf and half husky. I think Jenna and Kaltag are purebreed siberan huskies, Star is an alaskan husky and nikki is a mix with malamute and chow-chow.

Actually, purebred Malamutes CAN have blue eyes. i've seen pictures. And yes, steels is strong and well built with the muscles and all that stuff. He is also larger than the other dogs, and malamutes are naturally large dogs. the animators can't be perfect you know, so excuse them for having and flaws, but since they say that steele is a malamute, steele is a malamute.

I still think he's a malamute, but maybe they did a blooper with blue eyes, and had to make it blue the whole way through because of that one blooper, it would have been dumb if it was bue eyes then suddenly brown after a few images, wouldn't it?

Yeah.. I kinda just looked in a book that listed about 400 kinds of pure-bred dogs. And every picture of a malalmute that they had shown had blue eyes. STEELE IS A MALAMUTE

the only problem i find with your article is malamutes can have blue eyes rylie has a picture of one in the article. Not to mention if the animators made a mistake they could go back and fix it plus why would he be a mix when he hates half breeds. But you made a good acusation. At least someones trying to figure out why steele has weird eyes. But whats really weird is people's eye colors not dogs my grandmas boyfriend as turquoise eyes its weird and mine change colors. so steeles arent that aqward but good argue.

Well I think you are wrong and he CAN be a Malamute. I personally think they can have blue eyes but, I may be wrong and even if they can't, maybe the animators gave him blue eyes for personality. I don't know. Also, why would the animators bother to make him half husky half malamute! And remember when Balto said, "when do you need a pedegree to help someone?" So yeah. Also, in my dog book, I saw an Alaskan Malamute that looked exactly like Steele except for the brown eyes. Also, being bigger and more powerful than Balto makes sence for him to be a malamute because Malamutes are bigger and more powerful than huskies and maybe when it came to his size and strength, Balto took after his Husky herritage (except for big paws. ) Yeah. That is what I think but good article!
