Why was Kodi named Kodi?

I have always thought that Kodi was named after Kodiak island (and his full name is Kodiak). But is Kodi an actully name for a sled dog? I was looking on a site with dog names and there was a section called 'sled dog names'. I clicked on it and it showed the top 10 most popular sled dog names and Kodi was number 1. So, Kodi could either be called Kodi after the alaskan island, or just because it is a popular dog name? Maybe both!

I also found out that Kaltag was a sled dog name and so is Balto and Steele

Goodness, if Aleu is short for Aleutian as in Aleutian Islands, then Kodi must be short for Kodiak asi n the Kodiak Islands!

good search! I agree with Katie Girl - Kodi's name is probably the same as Aleu's name. But the top name out of the sled dogs names suits better Codi's part in the movie and his personality

I think that since Balto 3 came out, lots of people have been naming their pets Balto, Aleu, Jenna, Boris, etc. etc., so maybe a lot of people like the name Kodi!
