The Reasons Balto isn't a classic (yet) and what you can do.

The main reason that Balto and its sequels havent become big time classics is because Universal never realized its true potential. Not enough advertising was put into the movie. The movie wasn't sold in a lot of stores. There isn't any Balto merchandise like plush toys or t-shirts. Balto needs more publicity! A lot of people don't even know that the Balto movies exist. I didn't know that there was a Balto II or a balto III until I saw them on a TV special. How are we going to find out if they make a Balto IV. Are we going to have to keep checking websites to find out. Even 'The Land Before Time' series got more publicity than Balto (and which is the better movie?) There are a few things we can do to help.

1. Contact Universal Studios- send an e-mail to someone from Universal.

2. Sign the Petition- Use the link at the bottom of every page to get to the page where you can sign the petition.

3. Spread the Word- Tell your friends, family, neighbours, classmates, teachers,etc. about the Balto movies. If they liked them tell them to come to this site and sign the petition.

There you go. Three things you can do to help the Balto series(may the be more) become a classic. Personally I would like to see a special edition DVD of Balto.

Actually there was some merchandise such as plushies released, but the problem is more that absolutely no merchandise has been released since then...(if you don't take the sequels for merchandise, of course) Of course, the biggest problem is that the original Balto failed in theaters (because of all the reasons we all know), so they "abandoned" it. But then they saw that it got pretty good sales in vhs (4.5 millions units sold in vhs only), so they decided to release it on dvd and to make a DTV sequel with their own studios. So to this point, I understand that they didn't release merchandise. But what I don't understand is that they didn't release any merchandise with the sequels...With very few advertisement compared to what Disney give to their DTV sequels, how could they expect the sequel to sell? And yet, Balto 2 got very good sales, higher than all their expectations...So they decided to make another sequel. And that's all! It seems all they know is to make DTV sequels, that's what I think is really disapointing...It's not as if Universal was a small company. As you say, even LBT got more things than just sequels, and they are better advertised. Would it be so complicated to at least release a pack with two or three films? Since all the Balto films sold well even without advertisement, would it sell better with? Of course, and it would make the license much stronger. And merchandise is one big part of the advertisement...

i cant stand the fact that they didnt make plush toys of aleu, kodi and every other character in balto2 and 3. i would really like to see a soundtrack be released to for balto2 and 3. i hope if they do make balto4, they will advertise more and sell merchandise. You know what, I bet that even if Universal didn't make plushies and stuff, people download songs, pics, even the movie from various websites, and I bet that Universal knows it. If people formed a rally, and were annoying enough, I bet that Universal would put out merchandise just to shut people up! I'm going to try to get a fan club going and take action!;)

I'm surprised they hadnt come out with the 2nd and 3rd soundtrack. I do think though that I once saw some plush toys of Balto, but if I did, it must a been a couple of years now.

Yeah, about the part that a lot of people don't know about them, alot of people I tell about all three Baltos only knew about number one and even more don't even know any of them existed. The first time I saw Balto was last summer. I was seeing a lot of it on Youtube and thought it looked interesting so I took out number one and number 3 from the library. They were so good that I got them on DVD because I wanted to get it on my computer and I even got number 2 and the first time I saw it was when I got it on DVD. It is amazing that it has been around for 13 years and the first time I saw it was a year ago. Yeah, they really need to make the franchise bigger and make more merchandise.

We could try and get our friends to come and watch them. Or, if you have a nearby play, write a script and try to get them to use it! And I agree, I really want a Balto plush! And, they should make a Kaltag too! I actually dreamed about that or some reason.
