The creators of B1 really did their homework with regards to the whitewolf, The white wolf is a native american legend, it is said the whitewolf will come to you in times of great need when you need help the most.

In B1 the whitewolf comes to Balto when he believes he has failed and is about to give up, in the legends people refer to the white wolf as a she and in the Phil weinstein interview he reveals that Aniu was meant to be the whitewolf from B1 meaning the whitewolf is a female, in both movies she helps Balto when he is in trouble eg.

in B1 it's when balto is about to give up thnking he has failed and in WQ she helps him to find Aleu which in turn helps him to save the wolf pack and finally let go of Aleu so she can lead her own life.

This is good research on behalf of the creators of Balto!

Very good information, but according to the original creators of Balto, the white wolf in the movie was not supposed to be Balto's mother. It just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Or maybe you're right it could've been a spirit, but according to the original creators of Balto, that white wolf was not his mother:p Interesting article

If you read the article on Balto source main page titled 'Phil Weinstein interveiw' Phil says that Aniu was indeed meant to be the whitewolf from B1 and Aniu was balto's mother (as we all know!):grincolonp:
