The White Wolf in Balto1 has to be Aniu

I have been looking over the movie many times and I'm certain that the white wolf is Aniu. Here are a few reasons:

1. Thanks to kelev for sending that article about how the raven was Aniu, meaning that Aniu was dead.
2. If you noticed in the first movie that when the white wolf left Balto, it disapeared.
3. When Balto finally howled, the wolf appeared out of no were.
4. The white wolf also had the same markings as Aniu.
5. Finally, on the Balto 3 game that is on the DVD , it gets to this one level where it talks about the white wolf. There's a pic of it from the first movie. But if you look closeley you also see a pic of Aniu from balto 2 in the background.

So in conclusion I am positive that the white wolf is Balto's mother Aniu.

This debate won't go anywhere...It depends on the point of view you take. The Wolf quest team may have supposed that Aniu was the white wolf, but the original Balto team did not intend that.

I'm mostly with Steet; this is a debate that will never get anywhere. The way I see it, Aniu should not be a part of the discussion at all. To me, the answer is clear: Aniu IS the white wolf, because her creators intended her to be. However, THIS DOES NOT MEAN that the identity of the white wolf of the first movie is set in stone. It's like fan fiction: Cyberwulfe named the white wolf Kemo, and so WITHIN HIS STORIES, Kemo IS the white wolf. That doesn't make it true in the movie itself. What I'm trying to say is this: Everyone will have their own ideas about the identity of the white wolf; there is no right or wrong answer. As for Aniu, I think the answer is clear: within the context of Balto II, she IS the white wolf. It is obvious that the creators of Balto II intended her to be; why is there any question of this?

i believe they are the same wolf i mean if they hadnt wanted this confusion why would they make balto's mother as similar to the ww in b1 if they wanted them different they could have made aniu brown or somthing:/: :P

Yes they do look the same but, I think it's more interesting to say that the white wolf is balto's inner spirit. Also when the wolf "dissappered" I thought it was because it's snowing really hard and s/he's white, giving it the illusion that it dissappered.

It is a no brainer that the white wolf is Balto's mother Aniu. I also have a solution to why the White wolf in B1 and the other white wolf in b2 look different. The animators just didn't make her look the same. PLus the white wolf in B1 was shown in the winter and the white wolf in B2 is shown in the summer. Wolves shed don't they? Anyways good article, I like the pictures cotton Grass!:P

Are you serious??? They look completely different! The White Wolf a) must be male because he towers over Balto where as Aniu clearly doesn't and b) has a huge mane, where Aniu has very little neck fur. Their faces are also very different. The White Wolf has slits of eyes and Aniu has almonds. The White Wolf is merely a symbol of Balto himself: the strength and power that brews within him.

1. No comment. 2. It was in a blizzard/white out, which are common in Alaska. Those are nearly impossible to see in. 3. See 2. 4. No, the white wolf did not have the same markings as Aniu. The eys were shaped, slanted, and colored differently, as were the ears. The mass of both wolves also differ greatly. 5. That makes no difference.
