Balto - Analysis

Could the plot of Balto's first sequel be inspired by it's theme song?

Sylver :

This is just a theory, but I found this concept quite interesting. When I listened to 'Reach for the Light', I found that some of the lines can be applied to Wolf Quest, such as:

'Believe in what you dream',

'There's no turning back; your destiny is calling,'

and 'Come out of the darkness and find out who you are.'

Maybe a few of Wolf Quest's plot points could have been inspired by these lines in the song.

Hm, yes, maybe you're right; but in the original Balto movie, the storyline was basycally Balto finding out who he was. But, WolfQuest did show more of "Reach For The Light" than Balto did I guess...:!

That's quite possible! Oh, and what about the line "And the spirit knows what it has to do,"?

It wouldn't surprise me if they even made that movie based around a song :!

Wolf Quest covers quite a popular ropic - "Your destiny" or "You part in this world" so i am not surprised that many songs, books, stories, movies etc. have something in common with Wolf Quest

I agree - I never thought of that either, but it's a good enough reason to have such a focus. But I think both Balto and WQ have similar focal points with destiny and accepting who you are (Balto - Balto's internal struggle with the two sides of himself, the wolf and the husky; WQ - Aleu's quest of discovering more about the wolf side of her, and giving into her true purpose in life), so it would make sense. Too bad "Reach For The Light" wasn't used in the sequel . . . . it would have been a nice addition. Good point though!

It may not be as significant, but there was something else I noticed. One of the lines goes, "Stand on a mountaintop and see yourself flying." In the beginning in Balto 3, that's exactly what Balto was doing!

I was thinking the same thing. A while ago, I was listening to "Reach for the Light" and the lyrics reminded me of "Wolf Quest". It could be possible that the movie is based on the song. I wouldn't be surprise though. Great article.
