Are the wolves on the hill balto's pack?

I was watching Balto1(again) the other day and it got me thinking, what if the wolves on the hill near the beginning of the movie are balto's pack?

Reasons I think this, wolves in the wild would take no interest what so ever in a single dog wandering around on its exept maybe to kill it if they thought it may be a threat, those wolves howl to balto.

maybe balto's mother was from that pack they would recognise him as a potential pack member another reason for thinking balto's mother as from this pack is that balto says he was seperated from his mother as a pup, the wolves on the hill were wandering close to the tow even closer to balto's boat, when balto was seperated from his mother he would have either frozen to death or been killed by another animal either for food or as a threat and wolves territorys are large.

the pack on the would not have tolerated another pack in their territory, with the wolves being so close to the boat balto would have gone there for shelter from the boat with boris coming along later and taking balto under his wing (so to speak)

what all of you think?

I beleive his pack died out or his mother was a lone wolf.

I think the wolves howling on the hill were outside of their boundary, maybe looking for food. Because what wolf pack would have their boundary within a mile of humans? And when they saw Balto they tried to communicate with him and tell him they were friendly and didn't want to fight. Or maybe they were wondering if Balto was lost or in need of help. I would also like to put in this that wolves will howl when they are lonley, and maybe when Balto didn't howl to them first, they howled to him insteady.Then when Balto didn't answer they walked off.

I think that the wolves are just roaming in search of new teritory, and howled to see if Balto was lost when Balto didn't answer they left.

They may have been in relation to Balto ;) Maybe they recognized his scent from somewhere and thought that he was one of their own. And when he didn't answer they figured "Maybe he isn't one of ours" It's a possibility :P

for me they are only wolf,but non related to balto:that was a simbol for explain balto's indecision,when he didn't know who was him.

Yes, I agree with Cat and ARUOQMCI both. The movie makers wanted to show Balto's indicision, and yet there is the big possibility that they are related. Notice every one of them has the same exact markings as Balto? Maybe that was just a wolf thing, but they still could be related. But it still will never make sense to me why Balto would look the way he did if Aniu was a white wolf though. °x° You would think that she wuold have regular wolf looks, right?

I have to agree with some of you guys there. I don't think those wolves are related to him, but they somehow know who he is (via Aniu?): a half-breed that is unable to accept the wolf blood within himself. Perhaps those wolves were only there to show the viewer that Balto was ashamed of the wolf part of him, but notice that before the wolves showed up, he smelt them, knowing that they were there. He just didn't return their call, acknowledging that he was indeed one of them (or half of them at least). Perhaps he has his mother's scent? Maybe that's how they recognized him? I don't know, but it's a good enough theory. (Actually, in my prequel: I am writing that the wolf pack from that scene actually is what is left of his mother's clan. That's just me though.) IMO, it's anyone's guess on this one. :)

Hmmm, maybe Aniu was apart of thier pack, and Balto carries part of her scent in his own.

Well, you know what I say? It's a movie, so I don't bother with these things. They could be related to him or not. It's left up to the fans to decide what their own thinking is. Think what you like, it's a movie, they left out that information to let you wonder, is my bet. lol

They howeled in symbolism of his wolf side as boris said, "Not a dog nor a wolf." Or something like that. Its there to show that Balto does not know what he truely is. Wolf or dog?

Hmm, I'm still pretty syre Aniu was from that pack, her pack could not have been to far from the otherwise when balto was seperated from her as a pup he would have died!!

I agree with Drew. It helps show that inside, Balto feels as though he cannot be accepted as either a dog or a wolf - his internal confusion.

I just think they were looking around.......but that had to be the whole pack, if they were hunting, they wouldn't of brought the pups along. They might have been looking for a new addition to the pack......but if that wolf that howled was a male................then why is he inviting another male into the pack? Yeah, I think that those were feamale wolves, otherwise the lead male wouldn't have howled in the first place...........as for having a relationship, look at the wolves in B2, they look just like him, only different colors.:wink:

Ok, I have a big imagination, but um...ok Balto's a pup, right? Aniu's still alive at this time. That gray wolf (not the tan one, or the brown one!), is also a puppy. I named her Quillac, and her pack is all dead, and no one will accept her into their own pack, except Aniu, so Quillac is like Balto's adopted sister who now has a mate and a pup and...yeah. I know, it's a dumb idea.

I think they mistook him for a wolf, and howled for him to ask why didn't he have a pack or just as greeting... But when he didn't answer they saw he was half dog and unable to accept his wolf part and walked off.

I think that maybe they were just a pack of wolves passing by and decided to see if he'd join the pack. And maybe they symbolized what Boris said afterward.

I think your right! Because Balto looked at them and kinda turn and looked down as if he thought of the past and they howled to him as if to see if he would howl back and they would re-unight. and his mother always can and howled to him then left,.. so..?? Aniu could have been from that pack and and then lef when Balto was adopted by Boris.. or like "Bluewolf" said maybe they wanted him to join them. thx
