It's me again with another Wolf Quest Article! This is a question for the opinion to the public!!!

We have all probably heard that Boris said to Balto on the beach, 'Yet, daughter looks more like wolf than father.........' but I don't think so......................

My opinion is that father looks more like wolf than daughter. This is why...........................

 vs

(I choose Balto in his first movie, because his age is closer to Aleu's, even though probally a year older in this pic)

1. His fur is dark like a hybrid's, but Aleu has lighter fur.

2. Balto's howl seems more realistic then Aleu's howl (no offence Aleu!)

3. His eye color is amber, like many other wolves. Aleu has blue, which is uncommon.

4. He doesn't have a husky tail like Aleu does.

5. When he howls, his leg doesn't come up (when Aleu does it, it is very uncommon to wolves.)

6. In the first movie, in the allie scene, when he growls, it seems more like a wolf growl than a dog growl. For a reason why, his teeth are sharper than most other dogs.

There are still many reasons why he acts more wolf then Aleu, but this is just some of my opinions.

Please comment and tell me of who acts more like wolf!

I will simply say that the animators in the first movie worked very hard and did their homework, but the new animators didn't really care, trying to make a new and unique character, without following facts and guidelines about wolf appearence and behavior, to put it bluntly, you are correct, but it was mostly the animators fault for it.

i agree with you seems like they slacked off and stuck to stereotyps more with the secound movie as apposed to looking up little known facts and surfing through any wolf oriented site for facts.

I think the effect was largely how others' perception of her was effected by her behavior. Balto tried to act like a dog in an effort to fit in, but Aleu had no embarrassment about her wolf side. She let it all out. It's like in The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. People described Hyde as looking deformend, although they could never specify how so. That's because the deformity was less a physical appearance than a "shadow," if you will, of his sheer wickedness. Just as his inward evil showed unsupressed, so did Aleu's wolfishness.

I think you are right, but let me state a reason why--Balto is Half Husky Half wolf, while Aleu is only 3/4 husky and 1/4 wolf. But this is in looks. Like DT said, Alue acts like a wolf, she shows her wolf side, while Balto acts like a dog to fit in.

The animaters in the 1st did a very good job exept for balto's howl, wolves howl with there mouth wide not cupped in a circle like his. the 2nd movie i say Alue looks like a husky more than anyting

i definatly agree. alue looks like a shiba inu from my point of view, the colours (that ive seen in games) and the build between husky and 'wolf'. great article.

Dragon Tamer- You said that Alue was not embarrassed by her wolf side. This in my opinion is hardly true. When Balto tell her she says things of how no one will want her because he was part wild animal and she looks more of it them him (something along those lines, I haven't seen the moive very much since I don't enjoy it like the first so it isn't so clear in my head) Anyways...she is hurt by the knowledge of it. She runs away because of it. And she denies being a wolf to the field mouse, referring to only her pure breed husky mother Jenna. which means she clearly does not like taking on role of her wolf self at that time. She acted more like wolf then father when she was young, because it was just herself. Instinct you could say. Her father had the knowledge of wolves vs. dogs, and tried not to react on instinct like his daughter does. When she finds out she runs off, and then finally accepts that she is wolf at heart. And acts like it of course in many things she does. In relationship to her looking like a wolf she doesn't to me. She looks like a sore thumb to me when she's with the pack. Her fur and build. Though they give her a somewhat wolf-ish build. The only wolf close to her color is Nava, and a few stray others. Balto fits into the with the pack more in my view. His darker fur, shaggy-ness and ect. Most of this is to blame on the writer's and animator's, no doubt about it. And the fact of a lower budget given to sequels like the one's of Balto. Which I think is a real pity. I'll stop my ranting, these are my opinions though. Love, .ArT.

I have to agree with Sierra-wolf101. The animators really didn't do their homework for this film. I've said it a thousand times and I'll say it again: Universal needs to remake these movies! Good article!

Yes, i believe thats true. Balto looks way more like a wolf then Alue, she has more husky featurs on her. take one look at Balto and you see Wolf hybird. Un like Alue's look like pure bred husky, as her colour, eyes, tail, etc,.. all matches a huskies look. Great Article!!!!
