Balto is obviously acting in this sequel, and he has a major role in the film. As a father, he'll have to guide his daughter towards the right way, and this will not be an easy task; this is another kind of adventure that is offered to him.
Aleu is the center of the story: she is Jenna and Balto's daughter, who (unfortunately for her) looks too much like a wolf to be able to be adopted by the humans. Contrary to her brothers and sisters of litter, she will have to face this difference, and to undertake a journey without being aware of her destiny...
Boris always keeps his own Russian character and
adviser of Balto; he will play the role of nanny for Aleu, which
will not make her happy.
Jenna does not have a great role here, besides being a
protective mother, and this seems opposed to her rebellious
character in the original film...
Aleu will meet Muru, which beyond his simple mouse
appearance, will be the spiritual guide
carrying out Aleu to raise questions about herself.
Nuk, Sumac and Yak can be immediately compared with the
three sled dogs from the first: these three wolves have the same role here
, they are simply underlings of Niju, who they obey to
wisely.
Niju can also be compared to Steele :
Niju is attached to his territory, he wants to become
the Master of wolves tribe instead of Nava. But
actually he fears change, and this explains his refusal to help
Balto and Aleu.
Nava is the master of the tribe, he's wise and has magical skills
(rather strange...). But he is also too old, and will not be able to guide
his tribe to cross the frozen river to rejoin the caribou,
which represents life. He will have to find another way to make this possible...
