Okay, okay. I didn't really like the cover for the US release of Wolf Quest (but seriously, who did? There's so many wrong things in it - size proportions are really off, neither Balto or Aleu have yellow eyes, and Balto just plain looks weird!), so I thought this would be a great idea: Draw your own cover for Balto II: Wolf Quest!

UPDATES:

4/15 - Prize list for the top three entries are up! Also, I moved the Deadline to the end of May.

5/14 - Deadline moved to the end of July - perfect for all of you currently in school or dealing with final exams! Also, my sample entry is almost complete - inking it currently - so it should be up by the end of this month!

8/8 - Deadline moved to the end of the year - that should give us enough time to get enough entries! Yes, I am still working on my sample, but the entries thus far are good! Keep it up!

10/14 - My SAMPLE cover is up for viewing at the bottom of the page! Please don't steal it, okay? I don't want to hunt you down if you do!
 

Requirements:

It must have the title (you can use programs to add the title from the official release if you want, or PM me for them!) in some way, shape or form, and at least your own drawing of the characters. Lay them out however you want - it's all about creativity and design here!

Major Rules:

- No tracing! I don't want to see renders, screenshots or traced manipulations here, okay? Just your work on a creatively made fan-cover!

- You can either submit your entry in color or black/white . . . but I think we all would prefer color! Line art and shaded B/W is okay, of course . . . it doesn't matter - it's up to you!

- At least the main characters of the film should be on the cover (mainly Balto and Aleu), but if you want to put more characters on it, go ahead! It's your entry, so why not?

- The limit of entries per person is TWO. No more than that.

- At least make it look like a DVD cover would (minus the stuff on the bottom and such - check out Steet's Balto II page for the official covers and you'll see what I mean!), but remember, this is DVD cover art!

(Note: You don't have to do the back side of the DVD cover . . . unless you really want to. It's your choice!)

- You can make it hand-drawn, scanned, computer-generated, whatever . . . just no screenshots, renders, official art from the actual covers, etc. - Got it?

DEADLINE: December 31, 2008 - All entries should be submitted by then, unless you are given permission by me otherwise. (Yes, THIS IS A CHANGE! - So we can get more entries! We are so close to making this official!)

Voting will begin within a week after the Deadline on the soon-to-be made topic on the Balto Source Forums and we'll see what happens from there!

Any member of Balto Source is eligible to enter (except for me, of course . . .) We must at least five different entries in order to make the contest official, so be sure to tell your artistic friends!

PRIZES:

1st Place: A colored version of my sample fan-cover (which you will see very soon!), a WQ sig/avatar set personalized to your liking (nothing offensive, please - and no renders), and your choice of either a render or fanart of any character (original or official - NOTE: you can only choose one!)

 2nd Place: A WQ sig/avatar set personalized to your liking (nothing offensive, please . . .) and a fanart of an official Balto character (no fan-characters, please - and no renders)

  3rd Place: A WQ sig/avatar set personalized to your liking (nothing offensive, please - and no renders)

SAMPLE - It's only a basic movie-poster styled piece, sans the actual title. The colored version of this cover will be given to the winner of the contest once voting has been completed! Feel free to look and become inspired for your own entry if you have yet to post one! (But again, no stealing! Thank you!) I may post a previous version near the end of the contest, but I prefer this one more!

UPDATE: Also, I've decided that if everyone that joins makes an entry, I'll start a new contest once this is over for the third Balto movie, "Wings of Change!" (No, it's not because I don't like the cover; it's just that I think it could have been a bit better overall. At least it wasn't so off-key as the US Wolf Quest one was, right?) But yeah, I have my sample for this contest almost ready (it's an example, not an entry . . . breathe a sigh of relief!), as well as another version that I started months ago but scrapped.
