This is my own attempt at writing a Balto sequel. Now for a description. Whole story: After going through his own struggle to fit in, and after watching his daughter Aleu experience a similar struggle, Balto thought he'd seen it all when it comes to not belonging. That is, until he met the new kid in town, who's technically not a kid. The setting is immediately after Wings of Change. This chapter: Balto's plane ride ends a little too soon. For him, anyway. But an unpleasant situation and a rude awakening, related to the whole story summary, awaits. Contains some blood.

The story as a whole may be an epic, but this particular chapter has more of a flashback/character development look to it. In this chapter, a detailed description of the new character, Mika Kykalisko, who was introduced in the first chapter, is given. Also revealed is his back-story. Contains an alcohol reference, suggestive dialogue, reference to WWI, and some swearing, but nothing explicit.

Now the action picks up the pace. Things may finally be looking up for Mika Kykalisko. Now knowing that he's not alone as far as not knowing if he'll belong, and after befriending Balto and hearing his story, Mika's outlook towards Nome appears to be changing. But an unforseen setback lies in wait. Contains violence, a death scene, and some strong language.

In fear for his own life, and hoping to start a new life, Mika Kykalisko has fled Nome after inadvertently killing somebody. Nobody even knows he is missing until it's too late. Meanwhile, Balto has been having night terrors about a dangerous, even deadly force from the outside that could pose a serious threat to Nome. And even he doesn't know of Mika's disappearance. How will he react to the disappearance of his newfound Finnish friend? Contains some disturbing scenes and mild language.

The search is underway as Balto sets out to find out what the menace from his dreams is and to see if Mika is okay. But a serious accident awaits a major character. I won't say who. You'll just have to read and find out. Contains blood.

Mika has wound up in a hospital in Wales, Alaska, located at the western tip of the Seward Peninsula, in serious/critical condition. Will he survive with possibly life-threatening injuries? And if he does, what will he do?

This is where the story gets its name. Life in Nome seems to be returning to normal. And Mika's recovery appears to be going well. But the menace that has given Balto his night terrors is about to show itself. Contains violence and mild language.

Alright, action fans! Here's the Invasion chapter you've been waiting for! Mika has just begun the mission to liberate Nome from its Soviet extremist captors. Will he succeed, or fail? WARNING: Contains blood, violence, and strong language.

Balto and David are now fighting for their lives after the battle to save Nome. Mika, meanwhile, is still fighting for his freedom. The "alleyway altercation" dispute hasn't been settled, and Mika isn't sure what kind of welcome he'll get upon his return. Contains blood, use of alcohol, a character death and mild language.

The battle to save Nome is over, Balto survived, and Mika Kykalisko is the town's newest hero. But now the long, hard road to recovery begins. Contains use of alcohol and mild language, including a mild song lyric. Note: For some unknown reason, most of the pages are less than half the length of a normal page, which should explain the abnormally high page count.

At first, Mika Kykalisko thought he was alone. But his freak run-in with Balto, and subsequently hearing his own such story, lead him to the cold-hard that he wasn't the only one in Nome who ever thought he didn't belong there. Here's what might have gone through the Finn's mind afterwards as told from his perspective. Of the two descriptive types mentioned under category, Flashback would be the more fitting one, although the story is written out like a journal entry written shortly after the events mentioned above. Recommended prior reading: Invasion chapters 1, 2 & 3.
