The real Balto was three years old at the time of the Serum Run. The cartoon Balto's age was never indicated, but it can be reasoned that, since he is a cartoon representation of the same character, that he is also three years old in the first movie. It fits the youthful voice, the romantic intentions, and the relative SIZE of Balto (in terms of how he was drawn) in the first movie (he was drawn a bit larger in the sequels, and that is perfectly reasonable.).

In human years I'd guess it would be 4-5, but in dog years he would be 20-40.
