Kiara and Kovu. They are cousins, right? Yet they became mates.

Simba's father, Mufasa, had a brother named Scar. Mufasa had a lion cub named Simba and Simba had a lion cub named Kiara. Now, Scar mated with Zira and had a cub named Kovu. He mated with Kiara. But they were cousins! Or second cousins. I am an American, and here in America, it's very strange for a cousin to marry his/her cousin.

Maybe lions didn't really care about these simple things, maybe it was a mistake. Maybe I'M making a mistake. Please tell me if I am.

kovu was ziras son from another male..that or was adopted..the production team specifically changed that in early production so there would be no incest in the lion king saga....

First of all, what EVERYONE SAID: Kovu is not scar's son. And even if he were, Kovu would be SIMBA's cousin, so he would be Kiara's... (don't know, don't mind). To "Kovu+Kiara=Love", how can you know Zira is not Kovu's mother? The only thing we know is that Kovu was chosen by Scar, but we don't even know if Zira was actually Scar's mate or if Vitani and Nuka are Scar's sons... PS: I agree with " Ithemba", what kind of comments were those??

oookay, this convo kinda turned random half way through, anyway, yeah kovu and Kiara aren't related, and i'm pretty sure that lions don't care about that kind of thing, also i recently went to Bangladesh and my mum and dad explained to me that quite a few people there marry there cousins and i'ts okay, just as long as the cousins don't keep on doing it for generations, she said that that can cause some problems. so i guess it depends on culture as well as... species xD

Yeah, practically everyone in the movie makes the point that Kovu is not Scar's son. Also, incest does have effects on many mammel populations. In lions, it can lead to maneless males and poor fertility and such. The thing I'm not understanding is how people still think Scar is Kovu's father. Kovu says he's not, Nuka says it, Wikipedia says it, the people who worked on the movie took every step they could to make that fact known. Did these people even watch the movie! Or are they just bound and determined to argue about this...
