I was watching The Lion King 2 when I  noticed that Nuka's mane was about the same size good for adelscent mane but as Kovu grew he got a better mane and he's younger. They both grew up in the outllands. Basically, shouldn't Nuka have had more of a mane?

I think it's genetics. Nuka's father is Scar, and we all know that he has a weak stature and flat mane Like Nuka. Kovu on the other hands, i think has a different father cuz there's no way Scar and Zira put together can make a cub as good as Kovu

i don't thnk nuka is scar's son because he never calle him farther and scar ha d a fairly thick mane. i think zira either cheated on scar with a lion that looked like scar or fall in love with him after she got pregant from another lion and then fall in love with scar.

Nuka probably stayed the same because he was finished growing and such. Kovu of course changed because he was just a young cub. Also, you might remember that Kovu is not related to Scar (as far as anything shows), and Nuka is. (I believe). And Scar had the same general black mane as Nuka did. Although I must admit that his is very shaggy and un-grown. Probably from the fact that he had ticks, maybe? --Mayaa

Mites could've eaten up his mane, but I think it was mostly a result of some kind of malnourishment(sorry for the big word )

when a male lion becomes an adult they get a full mane.in some case they dont no one knows y.in the scene when zira brings kove home from playing with her enimies daughter nuka has a little mane.and in the next scene that you see nuka when kovu and vitani are adults he has quite a bigger mane then before i thought that nuka was and adult in the star of the movie

okay,in lk2,when vitani and kovu are cubs,he has a good sized adolecent mane.when kovu and vitani grow up,nuka's mane completely covers his neck,but it is short.its probably because of malnourishment.

his lack of food and water and termites, and supposedly he was in a fire as a cub. and it probobly damaged his mane for ever. along with all the other reasons.

Nuka was infested with lice and bugs and didn't have any attention untill he died.But Kovu is a different story. Zira thought he was some kind of prodigey or something. Kovu had the attention. Also I think Nuka's "Mane" looks like a mohawk kinda. :Smiles:

Termites! Yes, but this is a point that had annoyed me and I never thought of the termites factor. Also, neglected lack of food and water, he's bound to have not much mane.

Everybody here has good ideas. Either parasites (termites), malnourishment, a fire, a disease, or genetics made his mane short and straggly. But even though Nuka's mane is short, it covers his whole neck when he's older, like the usual adult mane. Ooh, and get this: Nuka's mane, just like Mufasa's, Scar's or Simba's, trails down his chest, but Kovu's mane doesn't. It stops short. That's how you can tell that Kovu is younger than Nuka.

They made Nuka's Mane smaller, and more pathetic to symbolise him not being as importent as Kovu to Zira, i learned this from watching the extras on TLK2 disc 2 so do your reaserch its worth it.
