a boy or a girl?

I have seen lots of books and 2 versions of Lion King 1 and always they wrote that Simba and Nala at the end they have a son. They even drew their child in lion king 1 their child like a boy. But when they made Lion King 2 Simba's Pride they made a girl and she looks alike this boy. They wanted to do firstly a boy, but the Lion King 2 scenario will be not very interesting because if Zira would have a girl she couldn't be a King, but Queen, who is ofter after King.

I love to believe that the cub of TLK 1 is male. But I have the official comic book, there it says at the end, that Simba is the proud father of a daughter.

Something I read said that the cub at the end of TLK1 is Kopa,but he got cubnapped by Zira to give to her sister Malana.Zira made it seem that Kopa was dead.Nala and Simba then had Kiara at the beginning of TLK2.

I agree with Simbasguard. Fans created the idea of Zira killing Kopa. Kopa only appears in the series "The Lion King: 6 New Adventures" and they were released short time after the movie. When they released them, there were NO plans for a sequel yet.

i know..there a lot of confusion about kopa and kaira but fact is kiara was put in the movie and kopa wasn't.

i think at first they were planning on making the cub a boy but then for some reason they changed it to a girl and then they decided they would make up stories to fit in with everything like where did the male cub go.

what about the dark marks on the first cubs ears simba had dark marks on his ear untill he was an adult. the cub in the first one could not have grown out of the color that sun.

you can never tell the difference between lion cubs if there a boy or a girl but it's good that simba had a daughter i mean zira wouldn't be a queen and there wouldn't be a next king

Well, I found out a few things. In a spin off book series the cub shown at the end of "The Lion King" was a male called Kopa. He was very similar to Simba in appearance and personality. (It isn't considered offical through). However, a common theory is that Zira killed Kopa before "The Lion King 2". Simba had another cub, Kiara, who is shown in this movie. It explains why he is over-protective of her and also means that Nuka could have been born at the same time as Kopa.

At first I thought the cub at the end of the first one was a boy too. So I was surprized when the second one ccame out and it was about Simba's girl. But, now I noticed that in the first one Simba was anointed with that juice and powder. And the cub at the end was not. When I saw this I started to beleive that Simba had a girl in the first one. If she was not a girl why didn't they anoint her?

The Cyb was supposed to be a male cub named Kopa. I don't understand why the writers would change it, but maybe they couldn't write a story with a male cub because it would be to much like TLK 1.

Hello, you guys, when they made the first movie, Walt Disney didn't have their heads in the clouds, thinking of money and fame! They just wanted to tell a beautiful story that deserved to be told. In the second movie they were scrambling to make ends meet.

I agree with secret_lioness. They were originally thinking when they made the first movie that the cub at the end was a boy, whom in the 6 New Adventures was known as Kopa. When Disney created a sequel they decided to make it a girl to make it more interesting. I think.

Hmm... tough topic... but I would like to agree with Flurrin I personally think that Disney at first just thought of producing one movie... TLK1. Then, as the realized that the movie became such a great masterpiece, creating a great fan community they later decided on creating a second and a thrid movie. I think that would explain why in TLK1 the cub apparently looked like a boy and in the second movie it was a girl, to keep running the story plot. As one of you has already mentioned above, if Zira would have had a girl and Simba a son, the story could not have been that intense about a "family vendetta", with a strong young lion trying to overthrow SImba's reign, preparing Zira's way back to power. But that's just my personal opinion.

I heard that at the end of TLK 1, Simba had a son named Tanabi,But was killed by hyena's when he was a young cub.Then he had an other son named Kopa.When Kopa as a young cub,Simba and Nala had a daughter named Kiara.Zira ''cubnaped'' Kopa one night and brought him to the outlands.Zira was about to kill him,But Kopa said that if he ran away and never came back,would Zira kill him.Zira made a deal and Kopa ran away.Simba thought Zira killed his son and exiled her out of the pridelands.But at the end of TLK 2,Kopa returnd and married Vatoni and had two son's,Weupi and Weusi.
