The first Lion King video game ever released, and the best one!

steet :

The lion king official game (1994)

This is the official video game, which was released at the same time as the original film.
It can be found on many different systems from that age : Genesis / Megadrive, Super Nes / Super Nintendo, Game Boy, and PC.
Basically, this is the same game on all machines, although there are technical differences.

The Lion King (Genesis/Megadrive) : Probably the best version of this game. The team behind Aladdin (one of the best platformer ever made) on the same machine did this game, and while it may not be as good as Aladdin was, it was an awesome game by the time it was released. The graphics are beautiful, the animation looks like the film, and especially the gameplay is great : you'll have no problem controling Simba. The only problem of this game to me, is that it becomes a bit repetitive, as the levels are not enough varied. It is also a bit difficult. This version has the best animation.

The Lion King (Super Nintendo) : On par with the Megadrive version, it's exactly the same game. The game is more colorful than the megadrive one, but the screen is also smaller due to the lower resolution of the super nintendo compared to the megadrive. The animation is also less detailed. On the other side, it has more soundtracks, more sound effects and they sounds much better.

The Lion King (PC) : This is exactly the same game as the Megadrive and Super nintendo game. I haven't tried it myself, but as you might experience problems running it now (DOS game), I suggest you to play the megadrive or super nintendo version on a emulator instead...You must own the original version to be in legality, though.

Lion King (Game Boy) : A conversion of the Megadrive and Super nintendo game, on the pocket console. Considering the really low capacities of this console, this is a fairly good conversion; but there isn't any interest in playing this version while there are much better ones for this game.

Cheat codes for the games :

Genesis version : In the options screen : Press Right, A, A, B, Start and the Cheat screen will appear. It gives level select and invicibility.

Super nes version : Go to the Options menu and push B, A, R, R, Y. => Secret Options Menu.

PC version : Type 'dwarf' at the main screen, and then during the game :
Level skip - L
Full health - H
Bug Hunt 1 - W
Bug Hunt 2 - E
Bug Hunt 3 - R

Game Boy version : At any time during the game, press start to pause, then press B, A, A, B, A, A. You'll skip to the next stage.

You get it here:
http://www.dosgamesonline.com/index/game/293/Lion_King.html
But it wont work without DOS emulator like DOSbox http://www.dosbox.com/
How to play:
1.Ekstract TLK zip archive on c drive(c:/dos/tlk) ill follow that example with this guide.

2.Install and run dos box.

3.Mount c drive:
mount c c:/dos (press enter)
change c:/dos in your folder for tlk if you extracted it elsewhere. Dos box dosnt recognise drive c by itself.

4.then type in:
c: (press enter)
cd TLK (press enter)
lionking (press enter)

Quick refresh of dos commands:
c: channges drive z to C
cd changes folder you are in
dir shows content of oflder

Thats it. For password just pres any letter and pres enter. Enyoy.
As for copyright, game is abandonware meaning authors dont care.
