LK2: Listen to the beginning of the battle scene closely before reading this.

Flurrin :

We all heard it: on LK2, during the war scene, Nala messes up Vitani’s name. None of us could figure out exactly what she said, could we? Well, I did some research and came up with this:

Disney originally named her Shetani, but in Kiswahili, the word means ‘demon’. I suppose they thought that was a little much for a children’s movie, so they changed the beginning to ‘Vita’, which means ‘War’.
They had already begin making the film when they renamed her, and already had covered the audio clips for the battle scene, so naturally the script had said ‘Shetani’ when the person who played Nala read it.

Basically, they realized they'd made a mistake later, so they garbled the audio and came out with "Viitanilii!"

Some people hear it differently, but, there’s my explanation. Thank you for reading it!

When I heard it it did sound a bit dodgy- but I definetly managed to get the word as "Vitani" and besides, Vitani is a nicer sounding name

Ya know, I read a few others about all this 'Shetani' business. I tried to hear the word 'Shetani' instead of 'Vitani' but it came out the latter every time. Besides, does it really matter? At least we know what was meant by it.
