If you fall off a cliff you would fall straight down. Wheras Mufassa fell diagonaly down  and you only fall like that  if youv'e been pushed. So why didnt Simba know?

Simba was a cub. How would you expect him to think about the laws of motoin. And it's actually not all true. If there is enough force behind something (and there probably would be in this case), you could fall straight down or diagonaly. So it really doesn't matter much in the story.

Also, evem is he did fall diagonaly the Simba might not have thought of that (he's just a lion cub) Also I dont think he would have been thinking logicaly because of the shock of his father falling from a cliff.
